I can’t believe its Halloween already! First comes Halloween, then Bonfire Night and Boom its Christmas!! Secretly I’m excited but also in a mild panic that my Christmas cake hasn’t even been baked yet!!
Over the years I’ve made quite a few Halloween themed cakes so wanted to share a few with you in case anyone needs some inspiration for Wednesday night!
Pumpkin Cakes ????
Firstly you cannot beat a pumpkin cake – the epitome of Halloween and gives you artistic licence to design a scary face without all the yuckiness of carving an actual pumpkin! These are two of my previous attempts at pumpkin cakes, although one turned out slightly lopsided! Thats the beauty of a pumpkin cake – does not have to be perfect! The less perfect it is the more realistic it is!!
Harry Potter Cakes
What could be more appropriate for Halloween than a Harry Potter themed cake? It has everything you need for Halloween: witches, wizards, trolls, spells, cauldrons, ghosts and ghouls! Let your imagination go wild with this theme (which is also perfectly acceptable any their day of the year!!)
Día de Muertos
The Mexican day of the dead falls on November 1 and I love all the masks and intricate designs which are perfectly suited to any cake or biscuit design! I loved making this cake out of red velvet cake for my Clandestine cake club and got tons of compliments!
Everyone loves a surprise cake so what better way to celebrate Halloween than to hide a bat through the cake design! I made this for my nieces birthday and turned it into a Lego cake, all yellow in design so that the black bat ???? shone throughout! You clan find out how I made this here.
Autumn Leaves ????
Ok so technically there’s still another five days before we Brits celebrate Guy Fawkes Night but these cupcakes are so simple to make I had to put them in this post. I made a simple chocolate cupcake recipe (you can even use a packet mix but don’t tell me!!!) and to decorate simply melt some chocolate to drizzle over the top and add mini marshmallows. Then using a chefs blow torch simply torch the tips of the marshmallows for the true bonfire taste. If you want to go one step further and make smore cupcakes then catch my post next week!!!
